Cue organ music with tritones, min maj7th chords and demonic minor scales (you won't regret clicking but please come back to the update after you've had a good laugh)
My loyal update readers! Seeing as we're all musicians here and this update is a little long (BUT VERY VERY AWESOME), I would like to make a request of you: please press play on the soundcloud link below to enjoy maximum update immersion (it'll be the most epic kickstarter update reading of all time.):
In fact, we will be past a whopping 700% funded by the time you guys read this! (You folks are pledging way faster than I can churn out these updates 'cause I put in way too much effort to make these entertaining to read. Tell me, do you actually enjoy these?? Do you???-) To celebrate, we have a few note-worthy announcements to make! The Lord of the Chords brings major news:
How much less? About $5 USD less than the usual shipping give or take $2, depending on your region. For example, if you're in the USA (U-S-A! U-S-A!) and pledge for 3 Major Packages, as opposed to shipping costing $12 + $12 + $12 = $36 USD, it will now cost only $12 USD + $7 USD + $7 USD =$26 USD.
Essentially, shipping for your second and third units and so forth will cost only cost $7 each, instead of $12 each.
Different regions have different discounts for additional copies because... well because geography and volumes and stuff.
Once again, just in case, we've over-estimated shipping costs for now, until we can promise lower rates than these. To the best of our knowledge, shipping rates will not be higher than these numbers :D On the other hand, they could go lower after we confirm all pledges (fingers crossed ><). Final shipping costs will all be reflected in the pledge manager survey form that will be sent out at the end of the campaign.
Check out the updated "shipping" section on our campaign page for more details on your particular region. Look out for this updated chart:
Taking in all of your feedback, we are looking to:
We thought of some more composer puns that we'll try to fit into the game elegantly (Pachelbel's CANNON, Paganinja- OKNOMORESPOILERS) but prepare your bodies for even cooler developments in 3... 2... 1:
Inspired by many of your Facebook comments and the like, we experimented with more music theory-infused game mechanic ideas today! IT WAS SO FUN. AND DIFFICULT. LIKE, SO-DIFFICULT-OUR-BRAINS-MELTED-SO-WE-WENT-FOR-THAI-FOOD-AND-ICE-CREAM-(MHMMMM)-KIND-OF-DIFFICULT.
Just like how us musicians choose specific chord extensions to play, based on the specific emotional affect we want to invoke in our audiences, we played around with the idea to let you choose to add chord extensions to completed chords to invoke specific buffs/power-ups!
For example, by adding 8ves, 9ths, 11ths, #11ths, 13ths or #13ths (whichever ones are in key) to your diatonic triads, you get to protect your chords from getting stolen, draw extra note cards every turn, draw extra action cards every turn, get extra moves every turn or get free accidental tokens every turn, respectively! It was such a thrill to make huge chords to get multiple benefits, especially when the risk (of getting your stacked chord "chop-in"ed/stolen) rises in tandem with the rewards.
Just like how chord extensions add a whole new dimension to music, these chord extension mechanics added a whole new dimension to Lord of the Chords that we didn't think was possible given how fun it already was. It was actually so much fun that we are literally excited FOR YOU to get to play this when we finalise everything!
We will do a redesign of most, if not all the cards to standardise style, explanation copy, and symbols to visually communicate etc, after the campaign ends. So things are only going to get BETTER!)
Tell us what you guys think in the comments section below! (Is this youtube?? Remember to like, subscribe, and follow us on everything! Kidding. Go practice .
Because we don't want to overwhelm the casual musician portion of our player base (who am I kidding, you're all hardcore), these gameplay mechanics will only be in the Major and Augmented Packages, in the (Who Let The Chords Out?!) Modulation/Advanced Jazz Chords Extension Packs.
We want to thank you for your amazing, amazing support, by doing our absolute best - to truly deliver:
